Streets of Theed

The first version of Streets of Theed was built for build 16 of Movie Battles 2. Featuring a rough version of the Theed palace it was played quite a bit but recieved much complaining of the long times it took to travel to the objective. The second version removed the palace completely and put all the focus on the streets which many dubbed "The Streets of Compton". The map would go on to be one of the most widely played and popular maps of B16.
After B17 released I went back and started a redesign of the map which in the end would take 6 months total to complete the upgrades. Public desire was intense during these 6 months and it was not uncommon for me to get funny threatning personal messages in my inbox to finish Theed or else. The changes included:
  • complete redesign of all the buildings
  • constructing the map with good frames-per-second in mind
  • a new objective
  • better look and playability overall
  • The result was a map that was the same size as the old version but better in every way. The public was not let down in their desire for a better map. Downloads of the map, which was bundled with another CMP map; House of the Fallen One, surpassed 600 downloads within only a few hours and 2000 downloads within a matter of two weeks. Currently the map is one of the smoothest running maps in terms of frames-per-second in the mod and doesn't sacrifice visual eye candy to do it. The map runs so well that the clan/server provider; Dank Squad, used the map for a recent lightsaber tournament.
